My Skincare Favorites

I would never claim to be a skincare expert, but it seems that friends, coworkers and people in the grocery store have taken an interest in what skincare products I use, so I thought that I would jot down my favorites for anyone who is interested!

I must also say that my skin is far from perfect and I still struggle with breakouts and combination skin. This is my current skincare routine that's working for me.

I have had my own ups and downs with my skin throughout the years, just like everyone else, which has led me to try several different products.  I have very sensitive/oily/acne prone/combination skin, which makes it nearly impossible for me to find products that don't cause me to break out.

This of course means that I have tried numerous products that are either sitting in my bathroom closet or have been thrown away.  But even through all of the bad products, I have managed to find a few items that have worked wonders for me and I will continue to repurchase.

Some of these items are a little pricey, but at wonderful places like Sephora, they love giving samples and you can always purchase the travel sizes first (which I do all the time).

Without going into too much detail, I will say that the Alba Green Tea Moisturizer is a must for me. It is lightweight and soaks right into my skin and never causes breakouts. I wake up with a very even complextion and baby soft skin.

Murad Acne Spot Fast Fix has been the first topical acne treatment that actually works and doesn't dry out my skin!

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation...total game changer! You can use this morning and night, but I use it after I wash my face in the morning. It works as an awesome makeup primer, because it smooths out fine lines, pores and gives an even, smooth complexion.

Frownies is something my mom told me about and I thought it was a joke...I LOVE THESE THINGS! They really do work! I put them on after my Alba face moisturizer has set in and then I spray Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray (another game changer). I use these twice a week and can see the difference.

Glam Glow is pricey, but totally worth it. I have tried three of their face masks and love them all.  The Youthmud treatment is something I use 2-3 times a month. It is a serious exfoliate treatment, so don't overdo it!

Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil is a product that I was talked into buying by the super sweet sales associate at Sephora and I'm glad he did! I use this amazing oil to take off my makeup.  I rub the oil all over my face and slowly add water to melt the makeup away. I then use a soft wash cloth to wipe off the excess oil and follow up with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil.

Never underestimate the power of a sugar lip scrub! Especially through the colder months.

That's it in a nutshell!

I hope this helps answer some of your questions :)

Peanut Butter Berry Coconut Pecan Breakfast Cookies

I am always looking for something that satisfies my sweet tooth and doesn't add to my waist line and these breakfast cookies do just that.
What I love most about this recipe is that you can tweak it to your liking.  Making it your own  original, healthy cookie.

                                   1 1/2            cups gluten-free rolled oats
                                   1                  cup unsweetened coconut flakes
                                   1                  tablespoon organic golden flaxseed
                                   1                  teaspoon organic chia seeds
                                   1/2               teaspoon salt
                                   3/4               cups chopped pecans
1/4               cup dark chocolate chips (optional, but a must)
1/2               cup dried fruit (i used cranberries)
                                   1-2               ripe bananas, mashed
1-2               tablespoons of organic peanut butter
                                   1/4               cup coconut oil, melted
1                  tablespoon of honey, maple syrup or agave nectar
1                  tablespoon vanilla extract (Mexican vanilla is the best)

Preheat over to 350 degrees. Combine oats, coconut, flax seed, salt, pecans and dried fruit.  Combine mashed bananas, coconut oil, vanilla, peanut butter and maple syrup. Then combine everything in a large bowl.

Press 2 tablespoons of mixture into a mold.  I used a flower shaped cookie cutter.

Bake for 15-20 minutes (depending on your oven) until golden brown.

Enjoy!
